PCS kindergarten registration coming up soon

PELHAM – Kindergarten registration for the 2019-2020 school year will take place at Pelham Oaks and Pelham Ridge elementary schools on Tuesday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to noon and Thursday, April 11, from 3:30-6 p.m.

Pelham City Schools students in kindergarten through fifth grade attend Pelham Oaks Elementary and Pelham Ridge. Parents are asked to attend kindergarten registration at the school the child is zoned for.

For details about elementary school zoning, go to Pelhamcityschools.org and click on the ‘For parents’ tab near the top of the page. Then, click on ‘Enrollment and registration,’ followed by the ‘Zoning’ tab.

The attendance of registering kindergarten students at registration is strongly encouraged. Students will complete a kindergarten assessment during registration.

Parents are asked to take a moment to review a step-by-step guide to learn important information about what to bring when registering a child.

Several documents are required:

-Parent or legal guardian must enroll the student. A photo ID is required.
-Valid Alabama Immunization Form for student.
-Birth certificate for student.
-Social Security Card for student (not mandatory, but if you would like to use for student identification purposes, please bring the card).
-Custody papers, if applicable. Final/current order with judge’s signature must be submitted.
-Proof of residence – all students are required to provide two of the following current residence verification documents and they must be in the parent/legal guardian’s name: Current utility bill or utility deposit receipt (disconnect notices are not allowed. Note: Two different utility bills or receipts are acceptable). Current lease agreement (listing occupants) or receipt for rent or house payment, which must include the address. Current U.S. government communication (i.e. Social Security, income tax). For kindergarten enrollees only, the proof of residence verification needs to be completed during registration and one of the summer verification dates.
